Pool Filter Cleaning & Replacement
Keep your pool water crystal clear with professional filter maintenance and replacement.

Why Your Filter Matters Most
Your pool filter is the hardest working piece of equipment you own. It runs for hours every day, pulling water through and trapping dirt, debris, oils, and contaminants. Without a properly functioning filter, your pool would turn cloudy and dirty in just a few days.
Think of your filter like the kidneys of your pool. It cleans and purifies water constantly. But over time, filters get clogged with the very debris they capture. Pressure builds up. Water flow slows down. Eventually, dirty water starts bypassing the filter media and flowing right back into your pool.
Regular filter cleaning prevents these problems. We specialize in maintaining all filter types so your pool stays clean with less effort and fewer chemicals. A clean filter means clearer water, better circulation, and lower energy bills. It really is that important.
The Three Types of Pool Filters
Miami Gardens pools use three main filter types, and each one needs different maintenance. Sand filters are the most common. They push water through a bed of special sand that traps particles. We backwash sand filters to flush out trapped debris, and we replace the sand every 3 to 5 years when it loses effectiveness.
Cartridge filters use pleated paper-like material to catch dirt. These need regular removal and cleaning with a hose. The cartridges last 1 to 3 years before the pleats break down and need replacement. DE (diatomaceous earth) filters provide the finest filtration. They use powder made from fossilized organisms. DE filters need backwashing plus fresh DE powder after cleaning.
No matter which type you have, we know exactly how to maintain it. We bring the right tools and materials for your specific filter system. Many homeowners are not sure what kind of filter they have or how to service it properly. We take care of all that for you. If your filter is beyond cleaning and needs replacement, we can help with that too, or if you need other repairs, check out our pool equipment repair services.
Signs Your Filter Needs Service
How do you know when your filter needs attention? Several warning signs tell you it is time for cleaning or replacement. Watch for these common indicators:
- Water stays cloudy even after adding chemicals
- Filter pressure gauge reads higher than normal
- Water flow from return jets feels weaker
- Your pool gets dirty faster than it used to
- Filter runs longer but water quality gets worse
- Sand or DE powder appears in your pool
- Cartridge pleats look compressed or damaged
- You cannot remember the last time filter was serviced
Most filters need cleaning every 6 months at minimum. Heavy use or lots of debris might require more frequent service. If you have been running your filter for a year or more without professional cleaning, it definitely needs attention. Waiting too long can damage the filter system and cost more to fix later.
Our Filter Service Process
When we service your filter, we do not just rinse it off and call it done. We follow a thorough process that restores full filtration power. For cartridge filters, we remove each cartridge, inspect for damage, and deep clean with professional filter cleaner that breaks down oils and minerals regular water cannot remove.
Sand filters get proper backwashing until water runs clear, plus inspection of internal components like laterals and standpipes. DE filters receive complete breakdown, grid cleaning, and fresh DE charge. We also check your filter tank for cracks, inspect o-rings and gaskets, and make sure your pressure gauge reads accurately.
If we find parts that need replacement, we will let you know what needs fixing and why. Sometimes a simple o-ring replacement prevents major leaks down the road. Other times, worn-out filter media cannot be saved and needs replacing. We give you honest assessments and fair pricing on any needed repairs. Regular filter maintenance combined with our weekly pool cleaning service keeps everything running smoothly year-round.
